The ministry for ICT and National Guidance has handed over 163 laptops to the ministry of local government to ease the monitoring of the parish development.

The system that the  ICT ministry has created  helps to register new beneficiaries, disburse money and monitor how much is available.

The system dubbed the parish development model information management system is aimed at digitalizing the PDM program in which government has  so far sunk shs855billion.

" The beneficiaries of this money are so far 874,790 and we  continue to roll out this system in different parts of the country," Dr.Amina Zawedde the permanent secretary minister of ICT & National guidance said.

The minister for local government Rapael Magyezi says this digitalization will not only stop at CAOs and town clerks but also at parish level.

" There are only 6,000 parish chiefs  and after the census, those gadgets will be given to them to help in their work," Magyezi said.

PDM was launched in February 2022 and just like other government programs setup it has been marred by discrepancies.
